Daryl Devore talks about what's the one thing she wished she new before she started writing on the #OpenBook Blog Hop #writers #DarylDevore

Welcome to the Open Book Blog Hop! This week’s theme -What is one thing that you wish you’d known about writing before you started?

The one thing! How am I supposed to narrow it down to 1 thing??? Ok. Marketing. Marketing is a thing that marketers do. You know - business type people. Authors hide in caves and throw out completed books then marketers market them and then throw wads of money back in the cave.

Turns out, that's not how the writing world works. Would have been nice to know. I might have picked up a couple of courses at university that could have given me an inkling of what marketing is supposed to be.

People major in the subject, but writers are just supposed to know. Now there's this new Metricool thing to figure out. Ugh.

  1. And however we choose to market our books, it doesn't work, lol.
