But what if she doesn’t want either of those options?

If she can survive the trials, that’s when the real challenges will begin.

A Woman’s World illuminates current issues by reversing gender roles. This story is full of rich world building woven into an exciting plot. It follows the life of a young girl who lives in a primitive culture on a distant planet where women have mystifying powers that keep men subservient.

Yes I am aware my title line is messed up. I used the permalink before I noticed I had forgotten to update my banner line. Oh well.

Why do I write?

I have no idea. And the mood I am in at the moment, it is possibly not the best time to write this. But let’s give it a go and see what happens.

I’ve never had trouble writing. Math – numbers – a whole other mess. I am seriously math challenged.

In school, I was the kid who got excited when the teacher announced we had an essay to write. I could never understand people who said they couldn’t write. Just put pen to paper or fingers to keys. Words flow out.

Then I became a teacher, and my eyes were opened to the struggles of others. I began to appreciate what I could do so effortlessly. I’m not saying I write soul-gripping novels or ones that will change the course of humanity. I write fiction. Fun stuff to entertain. And usually the stories flow with ease.

So why do I write those stories? It is part of who I am. I have an active imagination and an ability to put that imagination into words on paper or a screen. Nothing existential. Nothing world-shattering. I do it because I can.

And now he’d miraculously discovered her, hiding behind a tree. The Last Dragon on#WeWrWa #8Sunday #medieval #fantasy #romance

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors! Where writers share an 8- 10 sentence snippet of their writing on Sunday.  Visit other participants on the list and read and comment on their 8sunday posts.

Spread the word. Twitter hashtag #8sunday.

This week's 8-10 sentences are from my medieval fantasy romance – The Last Dragon

Scene set – Derry is secreting a pregnant woman to the abbey where she can deliver her child in safety. Hawkyns was watching a mob and trying to figure out how to save the woman the mob had grabbed. He heard a moan.

(P.S. because it was soooo long ago – the reason Hawkyns thinks of Derry as his angel is when he first saw her – he was delirious and she had blocked the sun from shining on her face – so the sun was behind her like a halo.)

He pressed his hand tighter as she jerked in alarm. She twisted her neck. Their gazes met. He stifled a gasp. His angel. He’d found her.

He had spent the day wandering the village and nearby lands with the hope of finding her while avoiding Ailith and Isa. And now he’d miraculously discovered her, hiding behind a tree.

She relaxed.

He released his grip. “Sssh.”

A wee bit more

His angel moved closer, placing her mouth near his ear. “She is heavy with child. Her time is near. I must get her to the monastery. She will be safe there.”

He stepped past and knelt next to the expecting woman, then slipped his arms under her and stood. “This way. The path leads back.”

What do dragons, knights and romance have in common? Grab a copy of multi-published author Daryl Devore’s medieval fantasy romance – The Last Dragon and discover the answer.

A sorcerer craving dominance merged with a dragon, the power overwhelmed him causing him to split into three dragons. Demora ruled thought but was lost in time. Yidithe offered protection, shining like the light of the sun. Ayrradex craved chaos, revelling in destroying souls.

Many knights died, attempting to slay the devil beast. One knight, Prince Hawkyns, did not fear death. He’d lost everything. Away on a mission when Ayrradex attacked his fathers kingdom, Penrythe, Hawkyns returned to find his noble father – feeble and defeated. His wise mother – crazed. His beautiful wife and unborn child - dead. Only a pile of ashes remained for him to bury. He knelt before his King and vowed to slay the devil-beast or be slain.

Derry was born with powers that terrified her parents. They delivered her to a nunnery to be raised in secret. Jathe, a wise sorceress, discovered the young girl and trained her to one day use the secret hidden in her soul.

Legends spoken around campfires hinted the sole way to destroy Ayrradex was when the hearts of a knight and a golden dragon became one. But after a vicious battle with Ayrradex, the golden dragon was thought to be dead.

Can Prince Hawkyns’s bravery and Derry’s powers end the reign of the devil-beast’s terror?

My Books. My Blog. My Post. My next release. A preview. #hot, #romance, #contemporary, #rockstar

You loved What Happened in Bangkok and want to know what happens next….

It's complicated is not only her relationship status, but the definition of Erika Bailey's life. She loves managing her drag queen club in Bangkok, Thailand, but her rock star boyfriend resides in North Carolina. And to top it off, her father threatens she must stay away from Darien or lose the Pink Flamingo. Does she protect her club or her love?

Darien Scott, Grammy award winning international superstar, wants nothing more than to wake up in the arms of Erika, the woman he loves, but contractual obligations force him to exotic video shoots and an isolated movie set with one of Hollywood's sexiest stars.

With the feeding frenzy of social media trending every aspect of Darien's life—real or not—it's hard for Erika to know the truth. Will she be able to see through the lies and trust Darien? Or will evidence from damaging Internet rumors condemn their relationship?

Why were they after her? And who the hell were they? And why her? And

Questions dashed through Erika's mind as she sprinted down the side street. Her heart pounded against her ribs. The early morning downpour blinded her. She swiped at her face, stumbling on the slick pavement, and then crashed into the door of a parked car. The right side of her head and shoulder bounced against it. "Ow. Shit."

Her legs buckled. The cell phone slid out of her armband and hit the ground with a crash. Gulping mouthfuls of damp morning air, she picked it up, stuffed it into her tank top kangaroo pouch and pressed upward to stand. She snapped her head right and left, scanning for her pursuers. Her stomach lurched as a loud footfall sounded behind her.

"Get back here, bitch." A hand grabbed her arm.

"No! Let go of me." Panic surged. The jolt of adrenaline gave her the strength to jerk her arm free of the man's grasp.

Go! Run. Go. Go. Go.

As she drove her legs forward, Erika shot her gaze about the area. Dark, closed shops. Parked cars. Not a person in sight. No police. Hell, not even a streetwalker. No one. No one who could help.

Keep it together. Keep calm. Think.

Footsteps thudded behind her. One set. Two footfalls.

Two footfalls? But weren't there

She turned a corner. Her nose pressed against the solid chest of her missing pursuer. His vile breath puffed across her face as his arms encased her in a bear hug.

"Let me go." Her legs trembled as she squirmed and kicked. "Let me go. Help!"

"I said stop. Dammit." The second man raced to her, then bent low to catch his breath.

With the arrival of the second man, the one holding her eased his grip.

Inhaling a deep breath, Erika pulled in her focus and remembered her years of self-defence classes. Take out one, then worry about the other one.

She drilled her knee up into the thug's groin. Air whooshed out of his lungs as he stumbled back. His eyes were wide with surprise and pain.

Erika shifted her position, swinging an anger-fueled kick to his shin. He dropped to the ground, releasing a string of what she guessed were profanities in Thai. She turned to strike the other, but he was still bent low, gasping for air. Calmness eased her nerves. With her pursuers momentarily disabled, she could escape. A busy main street was one block to her right. Her runners smacked the sidewalk as she bolted to her escape.

Christ. All I wanted was an early morning run. Not this shit!
