This majestic false-color image from NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope shows the "mountains" where stars are born. #FridaysinSpace #NASA

This majestic false-color image from NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope shows the "mountains" where stars are born. Dubbed "Mountains of Creation" by Spitzer scientists, these towering pillars of cool gas and dust are illuminated at their tips with light from warm embryonic stars. The new infrared picture is reminiscent of Hubble's iconic visible-light image of the Eagle Nebula, which also features a star-forming region, or nebula, that is being sculpted into pillars by radiation and winds from hot, massive stars. The pillars in the Spitzer image are part of a region called W5, in the Cassiopeia constellation 7,000 light-years away and 50 light-years across. They are more than 10 times in the size of those in the Eagle Nebula (shown to scale here). The Spitzer's view differs from Hubble's because infrared light penetrates dust, whereas visible light is blocked by it. In the Spitzer image, hundreds of forming stars (white/yellow) can seen for the first time inside the central pillar, and dozens inside the tall pillar to the left. Scientists believe these star clusters were triggered into existence by radiation and winds from an "initiator" star more than 10 times the mass of our Sun. This star is not pictured, but the finger-like pillars "point" toward its location above the image frame. The Spitzer picture also reveals stars (blue) a bit older than the ones in the pillar tips in the evacuated areas between the clouds. Scientists believe these stars were born around the same time as the massive initiator star not pictured. A third group of young stars occupies the bright area below the central pillar. It is not known whether these stars formed in a related or separate event. Some of the blue dots are foreground stars that are not members of this nebula. The red color in the Spitzer image represents organic molecules known as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. These building blocks of life are often found in star-forming clouds of gas and dust. Like small dust grains, they are heated by the light from the young stars, then emit energy in infrared wavelengths. This image was taken by the infrared array camera on Spitzer. It is a 4-color composite of infrared light, showing emissions from wavelengths of 3.6 microns (blue), 4.5 microns (green), 5.8 microns (orange), and 8.0 microns (red). http://photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov/catalog/PIA03096

My Books. My Blog. My Post A snippet from the fun hot romance - Love My Fate by Daryl Devore #backlist #contemporary #romance

Capri and Thall are on a beach late at night.

Capri leaned her head on his shoulder. "When you told me to go back and lock everything down, I was fine. I had something to focus on. But when I seat belted myself in, I almost threw up. It hit me then what was happening and there was nothing I could do about it. I hate not being in control."

He released her hand, moved, placed his arm around her and pulled her close. "I'm so sorry."

"For what? You couldn't have known the storm would get that bad. I pressured you into flying."

Thall threw back his head and laughed.

"Hey, Mr. Chuckles." She poked her finger into the centre of his thigh. "I can be a mean corporate bitch when I have to."

"First off, have you figured out yet that I can't fly? I'm not a pilot."

Capri's hand flew to her mouth. "Oh, fuck!"

"Next, and this is what I'm sorry for. Lachesis made the plane go down. It was her intent to get us trapped together."

She blinked. "I'd respond to that, but I'm still stuck on you aren't a pilot."

"Corporate Capri is, how shall I say this, a bit – just a bit mind you – focused on work."

"Corporate Capri?"

"You in a business suit." He shooed at a flying bug. It landed on Capri's thigh. He brushed it away. His hand lingered on her bare skin.

"I had to work hard to get to the position I'm in."

He squeezed her shoulder. "Not judging, just stating facts. Lachesis knew if I was going to break through your defensive wall, we would have to be in an unfamiliar, non-work related environment."

"And it worked." Capri leaned closer and pressed her lips on his cheek.

"Yea, it did." Thall placed his hand under her chin and lifted her face to his. He kissed her cheek, the tip of her nose and moved closer to her parted red lips. With the slightest of pressure, he grazed his mouth across her top lip and then gave the same tender attention to her bottom lip. Capri wrapped her fingers around the back of his head and shifted so her mouth was firmly planted on Thall's. He caressed her mouth with his, drawing out the length of the kiss, not wanting it to end.

Ring. Ring.

Both ignored the sound and pulled closer to deepen the passion of the moment.

Ring. Ring.

Capri shifted back, but Thall held her and refused to break off their kiss.

Ring. Ring.

"Oh, answer the damn thing." He leaned back on the log and crossed his arms. "It had better be an emergency."

Capri lifted her cellphone out of her back pocket. The glow from the screen illuminated her face and chest. "It's from Kat. She wants to know what I'm doing."

"Tell her she interrupted a great kiss."

She keyed in Thall's response and hit send. A moment later, she giggled. "Kat says she's sorry and we should continue."

Thall glanced sideways at her. "Is she going to ask for hourly updates?" He slapped his hand at a moth.

"I'll check." Capri focused on her text. The moth flitted around her head. She waved her hand over her hair then pressed send.

Ring. Ring.

"Kat promises that—Ahhhhh!" With the speed of a ninja, Capri threw the cellphone into the air and reached into her tank-top to pull out the invading moth, which fluttered deeper into her top. "Get it off! Get it off!"

Thall grabbed the bottom of her top and pulled it up and over her head. The moth flew away.

"Did you see the size of that thing?" Capri placed her hand on her chest.

Thall's gaze moved from her eyes to her bra covered breasts. "Maybe we should remove the bra. You know, just to be sure there are no monsters inside."

"Uh, no. We have to find my cell."

"Oh, hell no." He reached for her shoulder strap.

"My cell is my lifeline to the world. Cut it and I go into withdrawal. If you don't want to meet corporate bitch Capri, I suggest we find it." She glanced around the sand, but couldn't distinguish anything in the fading light.

"You're kidding?"

She raised one eyebrow.

"Fine. I'll find the damn cell." Thall crawled on his hands and knees in the general direction that she threw it. He waved his hand above the sand, hitting rocks and sticks, but no luck in finding a cell. He rolled onto his back and stared up at the star-filled sky. "Kat, text Capri. Please."

The only sounds were the gentle lap of the water on the shore, a loon's call from out in the lake and the soft snickering of Capri. "Kat! Come on. I've got a hot chick on a secluded beach. Cut me some slack. Text Capri."

"I don't think she can hear you no matter how loud you yell."

The last of the summer daylight faded. Clouds scooted across the sky and the day birds quieted for their evening sleep. Thall rubbed his forehead. "I hate cell phones. I hate modern technology. What was wrong with carrier pigeons?"

Ring. Ring.

Thall reached up next to his left ear and picked the cellphone out of the sand. "I found it."

"Now come and get your prize." Her voice was as smooth and sultry as the July evening.

Spotlight on a backlist twisted fairy tale - Dark Chocolate and Strawberries by Daryl Devore #spotlight #twisted #fairytale

Yes, in this story the characters go on a Caribbean cruise, but this book was written several years ago.

Hot excerpt -

Every good fairy tale begins with once upon a time. This one begins with once upon a dream.

****

“Oh, that feels so good.” She ran her fingers through his hair.

He reached his hands up to her shoulders and trickled his fingertips to her hips. His strong fingers kneaded her breasts. Her erect, pink nipples rubbed against his rough hands each butt cheek and dug his fingers into her flesh.

She slid her fingers along his chest and flicked his nipples. “You make me feel so hot.”

Applying tender kisses on her stomach, he moved from her navel to her thigh. He pressed a hand on each inner thigh, urging her to spread her legs. A thrill tingled in her as he licked his lips.

“Like what you see?” She wiggled her bottom.

A smile crossed his face as he lowered his head between her legs. Using small nips and kisses, he traced a path along her thigh and stopped when his lips brushed the edge of her bush. Licking her slit, he caressed the inside of her thigh with the tips of his fingers. When his hand reached her pussy, his finger teased her wetness.

“Don't stop!” She entangled her fingers in his hair.

His finger slid deep into her as his tongue neared her clit. “Baby, I'm gonna fuck you until you beg for…”

…and oil prices soared as the cost of a barrel of crude rode to an all-time record…

****

“Oh gawd,” moaned Red, as she grabbed a pillow to cover her ears. “It can't be morning.”

…lost three to two. The Chicago Blackhawks traded right winger, Steve…

From under the pillow, she forced one eye to open. The digital alarm clock showed 6:07.

…snow and blowing snow and near record cold temperatures…

“I don't wanna get up.” Her left hand reached out from under the warm blankets and slapped at the snooze button. Closing her eyes, she sighed and settled back into sleep. “Can I just go back to my dream?”

What a beautiful thought for my 1,000th post. May it happen to you when you most need it. #yogathoughts #ThursThoughts

The person who requests my hugs the most is my daughter. Some are short, but there are the ones that are long and tight. I know when she asks - it's be a long or hard day. And my job is to hug the "bad day" out of her.

My books My blog My post. This weekend - hot medieval romance Branwyn's Love. #hot #medieval #romance

Excerpt

“Stop that crying or by all that is powerful, I will beat you.”
“Do not yell so. You will frighten the poor child.”
Through tears, Branwyn stared at her uncle and aunt. “I… I do not understand. Why must I go?”
Her aunt sat next to her. “It is your time, child. A husband has been chosen. You must leave us to join with him.”
“About time it is!” Her uncle’s face grew redder with each word. “One year shy of a score she is, and still unwed. She must fall to her knees to thank God someone wishes to marry such an old spinster.”
Branwyn slapped the arm of her chair. “I decline. It is my right. I shall not marry this man!”
“How many men do you think you can refuse?” Her uncle paced about the small room. “This is the fourth suitor to ask for your hand. You cannot. It is done. Your things are being loaded as we speak.” He jerked back a curtain in the window and pointed.
The door opened and in stepped a tall broad-shouldered soldier. “The carriage awaits.”
“Branwyn.” Aunt Selda patted her hand. “You have no dowry. This is a good match. He is a rich man. He will give you babies.”
Suspicion gnawed at Branwyn’s stomach. “And what did he give you?”
“Gold.” Uncle Egbert picked up his purse and dropped it, with a rattle, back onto the table.
Branwyn dried her eyes with the edge of her sleeve, stood, kissed her aunt on the cheek and strode out the door to face her destiny.
A carriage with two strong, brown horses stood at the entrance. Two guardsmen on horseback waited. The driver offered his hand to help her mount.
Branwyn paused and turned. No one waited to say goodbye. The door of her uncle’s manor closed with a determined firmness. Warm tears gathered at the corner of her eyes. She blinked them back, then settled herself, pulled a blanket over her legs and snapped the curtains closed. If the family she’d grown up with refused to cry and wish her well, she would not shed a tear or turn for a final glance at her adopted home. With a shout and a shudder, the carriage pulled away.
