I have no idea why these are called Waldorfs. They are a very old recipe handed down from my grandmother to mother to me and I have passed the recipe on to my daughter. It is a simple but delicious cookie.
Waldorfs
Oven - 400
Time - 10 mins
WATCH - BURNS EASILY
Cookie sheets - lined
1/2 c butter
1 1/2 c brown sugar
1 c sour cream or sour milk
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/4 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 c walnut or pecan pieces
Cream butter and sugar. Mix wet ingredients. Add to butter. Sift dry ingredients. Add to wet. Mix in nuts. Drop onto parchment lined cookie sheets.
Bake 400F oven for approx 10 mins. Don't walk away. These will burn the second you turn your back and they are too good to ruin.
I guess they'd keep for about a week in a good cookie jar. They never last the full week. Everyone gobbles them up too quickly.
