Lies & Deceits
The Extraordinary Life of Amy Winston, Book 3

BLURB
Despite her lack of dowry and cloudy past, Amy Winston becomes one of the most sought-after young ladies in the London marriage mart. Some desire her for her beauty and charm while others appreciate her unique skills of seeing with her mind, healing with her hands, and disappearing in plain sight. By her choice of husbands, she secures her safety. However, her marriage almost brings the English Parliament to its knees.

Excerpt

Amy hurried out the French doors and onto a massive stone porch that opened to a very large garden. It had to be several acres. How would she ever find Gunter in so much foliage?
“Miss Winston?” a gentleman spoke and she turned to see John Marsh standing at the French doors. He smiled. “I thought it was you. Are you looking for Mr. Jones?”
“Yes,” Amy lied.
“Well, if he were out there, you’d never find him. This garden has a great many lover’s rooms. In fact, Mrs. Rothborn’s toy poodle escaped her fine fortress and met with the neighbor’s hound. It must have been love at first sight, for by the time they were found, a full litter of pups had come into existence.” He went on to describe the hideous little offspring with drooping eyes and curly hair that bayed like the father and walked like the mother.
Amy laughed heartily. “Are any of these puppies about to prove your claim, sir?” she teased.
“Not here. Mrs. Rothborn ordered the gardener to get rid of the horrid things.”
Amy stared at him in shock. “Mr. Marsh, this is a horrible story. If you knew it ended so badly, you should not have made me love the puppies with your vivid descriptions,” she scolded. “It was very thoughtless of you.”
“I didn’t kill them!” he insisted.
“I only called you thoughtless; I did not call you cruel and heartless.”
“They were lovable.”
“Mr. Marsh, stop talking about them at once,” she insisted and placed her hands over her ears.
John laughed at her and pulled her hands away from her ears. “The story has a happy ending.”
She stared at him for a moment. “You saved them?”
He rolled his eyes and sighed. “Now you’ve ruined my story.”
