This week's 8-10
sentences are from my Love A Billionaire
Collection. This is the final snippet from this series. I will start a new book in the new year. The part after the "8" sentences is a bit long to get to the end of the scene.
Scene set - Peyton accompanies Fuschia back to her apartment.
Fuchsia dug her key out of her purse. The cab drove away. They stood on the sidewalk in silence. Oh, what the hell. Show him how a good part of the world lives. Not in fancy condos. Give him a taste of reality and see how he likes it.
She led the way into the building, up the three flights of stairs, and down the hallway, which smelled of stale smoke and rank cooking odours.
She unlocked her door and entered. Oh good. I didn't leave the place in too much of a total disaster. Crap. Is that my bra lying on the chair? She crossed the room and dropped her purse on the pink embarrassment.
Peyton stood just inside the room. "The doctor said you need to eat and sleep. And I am going to see that you do that."
Anger shot through her core. She turned to face him. "I don't need a babysitter. I'm a grown woman. I've taken care of myself this long."
"Agreed. But this is different. I feel responsible for pushing you over the edge. I want you to come home with me where I can see that you get the care you need to get better."
"No." She shook her head. "I'm perfectly capable of looking after myself."
"Wrong answer. Pack your things." His brow was dark. His mouth set in a tight line. "You are coming home with me."
Oh, so the wrong thing to say. Fuchsia straightened her shoulders and glared at him. "No, I'm not, and you can't make me."
"Uh. Yes. I can."
She crossed her arms and rested her weight on one hip. "Uh. No. You. Can't."
He exhaled an exasperated breath. "Try me."
"What're you gonna do? Kidnap me?"
"If I have to." He stepped one step closer.
