His lordship is concerned that you're a cat burglar. Two Truths and a Lie on Book Hooks #MFRWhooks #MFRWAuthor #hotread #billionaire #romance

Book Hooks is a weekly meme hosted by Marketing for Romance Writers as part of the MFRW Authors Blog. It's a chance each week for you the reader to discover current WIP or previously published book by possibly new to you authors.

Today, I am showcasing a snippet from Twp Truths and a Lie

Excerpt-
Scene Set - Byn is a cat burglar. She just stole a red diamond. The police have arrived and she is being questioned. She is speaking...

"I took drink to first man, then walked to hallway. I knocked at door on left. Entered. Looked around. There was no desk. There were several tables, but a desk is big. I walked back to hallway, wondering if maybe I misunderstood. Sometimes my English isn't so good. I try door across from it. There is desk. I walked over to put drink on it then noticed the safe in the wall was open and things had fallen on the floor."

"Did you touch anything?" The detective raised an eyebrow.

"Better to ask where she hid the diamond?" Lord Middleton's tone grew angrier. He was losing his British stiff upper lip-ness. If that's a word.

"I did not touch anything. I did not steal anything." I stood and spun. "Look at what I am wearing. It barely covers me. I… I couldn't hide a tissue."

I caught the appreciative glance of the young sergeant. My skirt was very short and my legs are very long.

I plopped back onto the chair. The hidden red diamond clunked against my thigh. "Why would I take anything?" I shot my best baby-doe-eyed look at the inspector.

The sergeant chuckled. "His lordship is concerned that you're a cat burglar."

"I did not steal a cat. I would not steal a cat." I shook my head. "That would be a bad thing to do. I do not steal. I am good girl."

I really should start counting how many times I've used that "did not steal cat" line.

The legend of Robin Hood and Maid Marian with a twenty-first-century twist. If you love hot, billionaire romances, then this is a must read.

From the author of the Two Hearts One Love Trilogy, multi-published, hot romance author Daryl Devoré's latest book revolves around deceit, betrayal, passion and the theft of a multi-million-dollar, rare, red diamond.

As if multiple planes crashes, a car accident, and a concussion isn’t enough, carefree Byn and straight-laced billionaire, Mark clash over Byn's need for independence and Mark's struggle with guilt pushing him in the opposite direction of love. When an art forger, an art thief and a ninety-five-year-old woman get involved the chance for true love for Byn and Mark fades.

All is lost until a children's game is their only hope.

  2. Actually, I don't love hot billionaire romances… But cat burglars… I'm tempted every time I see this. Might have to move it higher on the list!

  3. Of course she wouldn't steal a cat. Enjoyed the excerpt

  4. It's not easy to steal a cat, especially when it doesn't want to be stolen. They're rather hard to hide in one's clothing, too. ;-)

  7. So, Daryl, you keep repeating that you did not steal a cat. You know what Shakespeare said about a lady who doth protest too much, so let me ask: How many cats do you have?

I totally forgot what day it was and thus didn’t go to the signup page until after it closed. I do have a hook, though, if you get around to visiting it. https://eahoornaert.com/2020/05/12/mfrwhooks-42/
